Daily Log: LC

5/5/2016

Today we set up our blog website.

5/6/16

Today I was in charge of taking measurements for the different obstacles. I was also in charge of working on half of the " ROV Project" page to finish it. Measuring the obstacles was difficult because they weren't exact measurements and was hard to know what to measure. My plan for next class is to fill in my absent member on what we did today and get prepared for the interview next class.

5/10/16

Today I worked on cutting the PVC pipes and learning how to drill and cut through them. I learned to use the pipe cutters and how to measure them correctly. I've learned that the drilling can be a dangerous task if one is not paying attention. My plan for next class is to finish cutting all of the pipes and start to drill them.

5/12/16

Today I worked on drilling holes into the PVC pipes. I learned that drilling holes is more difficult than one expected. My plan for next class is to finish drilling all the pipes and have the frame set up.

5/13/16

Today I finished the frame for our ROV. I learned assembling the frame is easy, but it's difficult to put them together. I plan to test the ROV next class and have it working by then.

5/16/16

Today Jose and I finished putting on the thrusters to our ROV. We tested them out and it works well. I've learned we can change the bouyancy of our ROV by cutting off some of the foam. Our plan next class is to test it in the big pool and have it working in great conditions.

5/20/16

Today my team and I have bought items to put on our ROV. The items were duck tape, fishing line, and a hanger. We cut the hanger to make a hook to be able to help us with one of the challenges. I've learned that the hook did not work so well and we're going to have to try something new. Our plan next class is to either fix the hook or put something new.

5/24/16

Today my team and I have put our finishing touches on our ROV. We decided to put 3 hooks onto our ROV to help us with the " Fix- It!"challenge. We struggles with the hooks because we broke ours off the first time on accident and we didn't tape it too well. We are done with ROV and plan to test our ROV in the big pool next class.
