In N’ Out
Each group will have to maneuver their ROV through a series of hoops. This relates to marine life because in the ocean, your ROV has to be able to move away from obstacles like fish and other things. We have 3 minutes to be able to maneuver our ROV through all the hoops. Each hoop is 24 ½ inches tall and 25 ¼ inch wide.
Fish ID
There will be different types of fish species in the water. Each group will have to record and recognize the different species without the help of a key. This relates to marine life because when one has to go down to the ocean to record the amount of fish and species, they have to remember what each species of fish looks like.
Gone Fishin’
There will be a series of organisms called the Schwoctopus swimming around. Each ROV will have to attempt to capture each organism and bring them to the surface. Each organism is 1 ½ inches tall and 1.8 inches wide.
Operation Fix It
During “Operation Fix It” our mission is to use the 4.5 inch cap to cover the “leaking” oil pipe. The overall purpose is to simulate how real life ROV’s prevent and or stop the leakage of an oil pipe underwater.
